The perfect tree for you and your family
Do you have your favorite type of tree to use for a Christmas tree or do
you just buy the first tree you see on the lot? Most people ponder over this
important decision, looking for the perfectly shaped, fullest, most beautiful
tree they can find. Read here to find the perfect type of tree for your ultimate
holiday decoration and to find out about the many options available.
Fraiser Fir
The Fraser Fir may be the perfect holiday tree. Its attractive 1"
needles are silvery-green and soft to the touch. Because there is
space between the branches, the Fraser is easier to decorate than
some trees. The firm branches hold heavier ornaments. The trees grow
to almost perfect shapes, and as long as the cut tree is kept properly
watered, the Frasier Fir has excellent needle retention.
Colorado Blue Spruce
A Colorado Blue Spruce has a nice pyramidal shape with strong limbs that
can hold heavy ornaments. The Blue Spruce is known for its lovely blue foliage
which can also appear silvery. If your decorating scheme does not include this
bluish tint, this tree may not be right for your home.

Canna Lilies
Canna lilies – These highly attractive plants are fantastic for bringing a
touch of the tropic to the garden. Exotic flowers are borne from July and
can last up until November or at least until the first frosts arrive. Popular
cultivars include the impressive ‘Lucifer and Tropicanna’.
Autumn Crocus
Commonly known as the Autumn Crocus or Naked Ladies – because they come into
flower without leaves – colchicums can give a fantastic display from September to October.
Although colchicums look like crocuses,
they are actually members of the lily family. The most popular is C. 'Waterlily', and is perhaps
the most common of all colchicums whose double pink blooms wouldn't look out of place
floating on a pond.
Eucomis
Even though Eucomis species are a relative newcomer to the English garden, their
tropical looks and excellent winter hardiness have already made them a sure-fire hit.

Different Ways to Decorate Your Christmas Tree
Non Conventional Ways of Decorating Your Tree
Decorating Christmas Trees with Apples
Decorating your tree with apples is a very old-fashioned way of decorating a tree. You can use real apples,
but they will tend to go bad after a few days. Instead, get big, shiny, red apples
from craft stores and hang them all over your tree. You can paint some with glitter
or tie ribbons on them to make them stand out more. The beautiful red colour of the
apples stands out wonderfully against the dark green of the tree.
Decorating Christmas Trees with Bears
Decorating your Christmas tree with bears, lots of lots of teddy bears. Get big and small ones, dress them in holiday outfits and
gently tie them to your tree. You can usually find lots of inexpensive teddy bears at
dollar stores or second-hand stores. Don't forget a very special bear for the top of the tree.
